Our last installment spoke about websites and why you need one as well as the various types of web hosting available to you. In this part we are going to get down to the ânitty grittyâ of squeeze page dynamics.
** Step 3 â The Squeeze Page **
What is the difference between a landing page and a squeeze page? That is a good question since many new internet professionals seem to be confused on the subject.
The very first page that a visitor sees when they arrive at a website is called a landing page. Usually it is named index.htm or index.html.
A squeeze page is a web page designed to gather information about your visitors. Usually this page asks the visitor to exchange their name and email address for a free product. This is the entire purpose of a squeeze page.
If you plan to use affiliate marketing in your Article Marketing business your squeeze page can be used to both gather a visitorâs information and then direct them to your affiliate link. The key here is to only send a visitor to the affiliate link after they have chosen to âopt inâ to your list.
You can set it up so that the affiliate page is displayed as the thank you page for you give away product. Using this technique you now have the visitorâs information for your list and email marketing campaign as well as directing them to you affiliate link and possibly making a sale.
** How to Create a Squeeze Page **
Web design has grown tremendously since the days of simple text pages. With the advent of Flash, Shockwave, Animated Graphic, etc websites have become a wonderland of sight and sound. Though these technologies are wonderful things they belong on your personal website not on your business site.
Your squeeze page is designed for one purpose, to entice a visitor to opt into your list. When designing this page you should always remember that less is more. Leave the bells and whistles out and create simple page with little or no graphics on it.
When a visitor arrives they should have only 2 options.
1.) Opt into your list
2.) Leave
Never put banners or text links on your squeeze page. This gives your prospect options other than the two mentioned above.
A squeeze page is not the place to demonstrate how much you know about advanced web design. It should have just enough information on it to entice the prospect to exchange their information for your free product. No more.
Take the time to craft a killer headline. Most people will subconsciously make the decision to join your list based on the headline alone.
Create a 3 to 5 bullet points. Do not use these points to demonstrate the features of your free product, rather use them to tell a visitor what the product will do for them. Instead of saying âSpeed up your article writingâ use something like âSave an Hour per Day Writing Articles.â
Place the code generated by you autoresponder (more on autoresponders later) in the page. Assure the visitor that their information is safe with you and put your contact information at the bottom of the page.
This is a simple page that will make you big money in the long run. Take the time to craft a great squeeze page and when you drive traffic to it, it will do its job.
